Here at AR Removals we are determined to provide a professional and high quality removal service to the people of Wakefield. That is why we are always pleased to hear about developments in the local area which not only encourage economic growth, but also significantly improve the transport links across the city. Therefore assisting and improving upon the efficiency of our house moves and other removals services across the area.
The long-awaited 5.5km relief road known as WERR (Wakefield Eastern Relief Road) had its first official test drive last month after the idea was first raised way back in 2009. The road provides a link between the A642 and A638, running from Doncaster Road at Agbrigg to the roundabout at Pinderfields hospital and onto Aberford Road and Ferry lane in Stanley. This helps to divert traffic away from the city centre, reducing congestion and pollution and improving local transport links.
In one of the biggest and most ambitious projects in the West Yorkshire district, the £33 million development will not only aid travellers around the city, it also has the potential to generate major economic benefits for the city by unlocking a potential for house development of up to 2,500 new homes as part of the City Fields development.
Councillor Eric Forth, deputy transport chairman of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority praised the project, saying “Delivering improved strategic transport links that generate economic growth across West Yorkshire and the City Region are among the Combined Authority’s stated aims. I’m glad that through our £1bn transport fund we have been able to work with Wakefield Council to develop this road.”
